We like every week to bring what we call a Prophecy Update. We show how news and trends in the world are corroborating centuries-old prophecies found in the Bible.
The explosion of human knowledge is a sign we are living in prophetic times. Our biblical basis is Daniel 12:4 which reads,
“But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book until the time of the end; many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.”
Daniel 12.4
In its original context this verse means that the words of Danielʼs prophecy will be shut up, meaning not fully understood, until the times of the end.
If you study church history you find this to be true. But at the time of the end, many would run too and fro through the Scriptures, comparing text with text, and understand these prophecies. I think we could safely say that this is being fulfilled.
Thatʼs not all. Students of Bible prophecy see a secondary application:
•“Many shall run to and fro” is a prophecy that in the End Times people will travel the globe at tremendous speeds.
•“Knowledge shall increase” is a prophecy that there will be an explosion of knowledge in the End Times.
Isaac Newton reportedly predicted from this verse that one day men would travel at the speed of fifty miles per hour! It caused the famous atheist Voltaire to ridicule both Newton and the Bible.
The Hebrew word for “increase” implies not only an addition of knowledge, but also a multiplication or a knowledge that is increasing exponentially.
According to published reports, 90% of all the scientists who have ever lived are alive today. Fifty percent of the worldʼs inventions have been created in the last ten years.
This last days explosion of knowledge has produced various technologies that could fulfill the most ominous prophecy of the last days, the mark of the beast. The mark involves some sort of personal identifier on your hand or forehead without which you will not be able to conduct any daily business.
In previous Updates weʼve told you about implantable microchips that are already in use as well as radio frequency identification tags and even invisible conductive ink.
The latest technological wonder along these lines was developed by Xerox.

Xerox researchers have invented a kind of ink that can conduct electricity and be used to put electronic circuits on top of plastics, film, and textiles. That means in the coming years weʼll be able to wear or bend our electronics. You could even print out your electronic gadget on plastic sheets, as if you were printing a document.
Silicon chips have long been too expensive or heavy to use in devices that are extremely lightweight. The Xerox team solved this fundamental problem with lighter materials, and it plans to sell the new materials to other businesses that could make
wearable electronics.The Xerox team created what they call a “silver bullet.” Itʼs a silver ink that melts at 140 degrees celsius. Normally, metals melt at 1,000 degrees or so. But plastic itself melts at 150 degrees. So an ink laid on top of plastic canʼt melt at a higher temperature or it will melt the plastic, said Paul Smith, lab manager at Xerox Research Toronto, Canada.
“This opens a whole new world for electronics,” said Angele Boyd, an analyst at IDC.
“With printable electronics, the future of electronics will include plastics and fabric. The Xerox technology opens up opportunities for lower cost applications in traditional electronics and for new applications around plastics and fabric.”
The plastic circuits could be used to weave a computer into your clothing or make intelligent boxes for pills that could tell you whether theyʼve been tampered with during shipping.
The circuits can be printed by printers, just like a document, without the need for an elaborate clean room as is used in current chip factories. Xerox has research samples available now and is in discussions with manufacturers who could use the plastic
electronics.Beyond the applications weʼve mentioned already, Xerox says the printed plastic circuits could be used in low-cost radio frequency identification (RFID) tags…
Iʼd say that “knowledge” is increasing. Iʼd say we could overnight implement a new economic and social system based on personal
identifiers.
And thatʼs just part of why I say we are living in the last days just prior to the return of Jesus Christ.
Before He comes, however, He has promised to resurrect the dead of the church age and rapture off of the earth living believers.
This first return is presented in the Bible as imminent. It could happen at any moment and nothing need be fulfilled before it could occur.
